Wish Transforms Teen’s Room into Electronic Haven
Monroe, North Carolina – Because of his medical complications, Ivan spends most of his time at home. His wish coming true is transforming his room into an electronic haven — a space where he can feel cozy, comforted, and entertained every day.
Kids Wish Network purchased Ivan a magnificent 72" Samsung TV, perfect for watching movies and the soothing aquarium scenes he loves. “It’s every teenager’s dream,” said his mom, Maria. He also received a new iPad, a wall mount for the TV, a surge protector, and additional accessories.
Kids Wish Network further provided a generous Walmart gift card, which his family plans to use to purchase new bedding and furnishings to make his room even more comfortable. They’re excited to create a warm, inviting space where they can enjoy movie nights together — without needing to transfer Ivan to a wheelchair to go to the living room.
For Ivan, TV is a window to the world. With such a large screen, his favorite National Geographic shows and beautiful scenery will feel more lifelike than ever. His new iPad will also bring him endless enjoyment during long nights or while waiting at doctor appointments.
“We’re so excited and grateful,” said his mom. “Thank you so much!”
Ivan has refractory epilepsy, meaning medications are unable to fully control his seizures. He also has a chromosomal microdeletion — a genetic abnormality involving the loss of small segments of chromosomes that can cause complex health issues. Ivan began having seizures at just 2 months old, and his chromosomal condition was diagnosed before his first birthday.
He has undergone a tracheotomy, uses a G-tube for feeding, relies on a wheelchair, and uses oxygen as needed. Ivan also has a vagus nerve stimulation device to help reduce his seizures. The frequent seizure activity has caused cognitive delays, and he requires assistance from a home health nurse several times a week.
Many Thanks
Kids Wish Network could not have provided this wish to Ivan without the help of the many supporters who believe in making wishes come true for kids who need hope.
Kids Wish Network has been making dreams come true for children since 1997. We are dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories, and improving the quality of life for children experiencing life-altering situations. We started with the single purpose of granting wishes to children suffering from life-threatening conditions but have since created additional programs to benefit kids nationwide, including Hero of the Month, Project Toy Drop, Holiday of Hope Gift Banks, and A Child Forever Funeral Assistance.
