Elden Gets an Epic Birthday Surprise on the Big Screen!
San Antonio, Texas – Elden walked into City Base Theatres believing he was about to celebrate his birthday in the simplest way imaginable—watching a movie with his mom. What he didn’t know was that this ordinary plan was about to turn into something extraordinary. It wasn’t just another birthday. It would become a milestone he and his family would remember forever.
As Elden stepped into the theater, he was greeted by his closest friends and family who had gathered to celebrate him. City Base Theatres generously donated a private theater room, transforming the space into a personal celebration filled with love, laughter, and anticipation. His friends surrounded him, and for a moment, everything felt perfectly normal—until Elden realized this was no ordinary movie night.
The surprise unfolded during a private screening of The Conjuring, one of Elden’s favorite films. As the reality of the moment set in, Elden was completely caught off guard. The joy and disbelief on his face made it clear this was far more than a birthday party—it was the moment his wish was revealed.
For Elden, this celebration carried profound meaning. He was just a teen when his life changed in an instant, suffering a traumatic brain injury. His journey of recovery has been long and demanding. He had to relearn how to walk, talk, and regain mobility on the right side of his body. Once athletic and constantly on the go, Elden has spent the past years redefining what “normal” looks like, all while managing seizures and working to return to physical therapy.
His wish centered on something close to his heart: western wear. It would reconnect him with what he loves, and express who he truly is. Kids Wish Network purchased Elden a generous gift card to shop at Cavender’s Boot City for his dream pair of extravagant fish scale boots and then some! Cavender’s also donated to his wish experience. Elden was thrilled to learn that Kids Wish Network had also surprised him with a gift card, loaded with spending money for another one of his favorite western wear stores. Together, these gifts gave Elden the freedom to choose items that made him feel confident, strong, and truly himself.
That night wasn’t just about gifts or a movie premiere—it was about restoring a sense of joy and normalcy to a teen who has faced the unfathomable. Surrounded by the people who love him, Elden was reminded that he is not defined by what he has lost, but by the resilience, courage, and spirit he carries forward every day.
