Siblings Support and Assist Mom Throughout Cancer Journey
Both LeAni and Mason have been so understanding and supportive of their mom as she continues to navigate her cancer journey.
LeAni is a natural born leader. When her mom isn’t home, she steps up as her substitute. She also goes out of her way to help her brother with his homework and keep him on track. LeAni doesn’t wait around for people to do things for her. If something needs to be done, she does it. She also looks for any opportunity to help at school, and is like everyone’s big sister/mom.
Young Hero Embraces Strength During Uncertainties of Hospital Stay
Lyla was incredibly brave during her hospital stay! There were a lot of uncertainties and many procedures, but she overcome each one. From pokes, to imaging, and a lumbar puncture, Lyla was so strong!
She is always smiling! Even when things are hard, Lyla pushed herself to reach new goals. “We are so proud of her hard work," said her Child Life Specialist Shannon Kaufmann at HSHS St. Vincent Children’s Hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She nominated Jordyn, and Kids Wish Network is pleased to reward her as a Hero of the Month.
Despite Tragic Burn Trauma, Hero Perseveres with Courage, Positivity and Faith
Even though Ka’Leaha has been through the unthinkable, she remains strong and blessed. After a tragic burn trauma, she was airlifted for care due to the large surface area of major burns to her torso, face, ears, hair, and hands, and some smaller burns throughout her body. Ka’Leaha has been through 9 surgeries and continues to undergo physical and occupational therapies. Despite her trauma, she keeps a positive attitude and continues to smile.
Hero Bravely Faces Procedures Throughout Multiple Hospitalizations
Jordyn was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia and the flu, and after a short two days was re-admitted to get a chest tube placed. During these admissions, Jordyn has had several procedures done, as well as her chest tubes, and has tolerated her pain very well. Jordyn is very brave, and a good listener to nurses and staff when she needs to be still. She also does a great job taking her medicine at home for her seizures.
Hero Brings Comfort While Bravely Struggling Through Family Tragedy and Grief
Derek has shown incredible bravery and strength as our family navigates the profound grief of losing his 11-year-old brother. Throughout the medical challenges, he remained resilient, often offering comfort to our family during the most emotional moments. His courage has been truly remarkable. “Derek is a hero in every sense of the word for the way he faced these hardships with such grace and heart,” said his aunt who nominated him for Kids Wish Network’s Hero of the Month program. “Derek has lost his best friend and brother, yet somehow, he has found the strength to hold it all together.”
Wish at Legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studio Makes Heart Sing with Joy
Josephine has stars in her eyes, wanting to be a singer when she grows up. Kids Wish Network made her dream come true, sending her to Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, where some of the biggest hits have been recorded by legendary artists including Cher, Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Mick Jagger, George Michael, Rod Stewart, and many more.
