Superheroes, Shopping Carts, and One Magical Wish

Augusta, Georgia – It was a huge day for Italya. She could hardly contain her excitement knowing her wish was coming true with an extraordinary Walmart shopping spree. The surprise began the moment a luxurious stretch limousine from Celebrity Limousine of Georgia pulled up to her home, ready to whisk her away in style. When they arrived, her chauffeur rolled out a red carpet for her grand entrance. Walmart staff were waiting to greet her—along with Batman, Robin, Superman and Captain America. A corporate team member also surprised her with a shopping cart overflowing with Hello Kitty gifts decorated with balloons. She especially loved the large Hello Kitty and Barney plush toys. After all the fanfare, it was time for Italya’s shopping extravaganza to begin. Her generous spree was made possible by a Walmart community grant.

It was quite the scene as Italya browsed the aisles with an entourage of Walmart staff and superheroes. She quickly became the center of attention. Her sweetness won over everyone—staff stepped in to be her “honorary aunties,” and customers happily followed along to watch her joy. Kindness was everywhere she turned.

Some of Italya’s favorite finds included a Razor go-kart, video games, headphones, a tablet, an ice-cream maker, baby dolls and accessories, and even a toy washing machine. “Staff made sure she got everything that a kid could want,” said her mom Siobhan. “They really catered to Italya to the fullest and that was just amazing. Everything she wanted, they said just grab it. It was wonderful—she’s never had that before.” By the end, Italya filled three shopping carts and the limousine. “She filled the limo up,” her mom said. “She filled it up!”

After a full afternoon of shopping, Italya and her mom enjoyed dinner at Red Crab Juicy Seafood—her favorite. They feasted on crab legs and ended the celebration with cheesecake. Their meals were generously provided by the restaurant.

“I’m so grateful and thank you with all my heart,” said her mom. “This was something she would never have the chance to do.” It was a day overflowing with kindness, excitement, and the magic of a dream coming true.

At around age five, Italya began experiencing forgetfulness and seizures—an early turning point in her health. Testing revealed a diagnosis of epilepsy and that her brain never fully enters restful sleep. She faces multiple types of seizures, and when they happen in succession, she needs to wear a protective helmet. She has undergone many sleep studies and tests, but continues to face ongoing medical challenges, including cognitive complications caused by her seizures.
