Elissa’s Heartfelt Wish Turns Dreams into a World of Wonder

Orlando, Florida – Elissa’s wish journey began with a beautiful surprise during her physical therapy session, where her family and care team celebrated the moment she learned her wish was coming true. She was greeted with a special sign, and Kids Wish Network also gave her a painting kit to personalize the moment–reflecting this aspiring artist’s love of art. Living with congenital muscular dystrophy, Elissa has faced many challenges from the very beginning of her life. Born premature, she spent weeks in the NICU, and has since undergone surgeries and ongoing physical, occupational, and feeding therapies to help her grow stronger.

Shortly after finding out about her wish, Elissa and her family traveled to Orlando for her meaningful trip of firsts, experiencing Florida’s theme parks. Together, they visited Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Animal Kingdom, each park bringing its own special kind of magic. For Elissa, who uses a wheelchair and works hard in therapy, the trip was not just about fun—it was about freedom, wonder, and experiencing the world in a new way.

Out of all the Disney parks, Animal Kingdom became Elissa’s favorite. Meeting Russell from Up was a cherished moment. At the Magic Kingdom, she loved watching the fireworks light up the sky, seeing Mickey and Minnie dance in the parade, riding Dumbo and the Grand Prix, and exploring the countries at EPCOT. Each experience brought a sense of joy and possibility that made every challenge she faces feel lighter, even if just for a while.

“We had only seen Disney on TV and in videos, and now it’s a dream come true,” her mom Moo shared. As Elissa looked back through photos, she smiled and excitedly relived each memory.

At Universal, Elissa was especially excited to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, where she was immersed in a world she had only imagined before. She also loved seeing the dinosaurs at Jurassic World in Islands of Adventure, adding even more wonder and excitement to an already unforgettable trip.

The family shared special meals along the way, enjoying both the food and their time together. At Chuy’s, they embraced the vibrant atmosphere and their Tex-Mex favorites. At Kobe Japanese Steakhouse, they were delighted by the chef’s performance, Elissa’s special attention, and also her dad and brother being celebrated with birthday cupcakes and singing. It was a heartfelt night filled with laughter and joy.

During their stay at Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa, Elissa most enjoyed spending time in the pool with her family. Between the excitement of the parks, these quiet moments of togetherness became some of the most meaningful reminders that happiness is often found in being close to the people you love.

“Everything on the wish was new for us,” her mom said. “It was so special for us, and nobody wanted to leave.”

The wish was more than just a trip. It was a chance for her and her family to step away from the realities of medical appointments, simply live in the moment, and celebrate Elissa’s strength, creativity, and bright spirit. Even in the face of life’s hardest challenges, there is still magic, joy, and hope waiting to be found.
