Big Trucks, Bigger Smiles: Brycen’s Monster Jam Wish Comes True
Greenville, South Carolina – On the mornings when Brycen’s world felt smallest, it wasn’t because he was so young. It was because the day began with things most kids never have to think about living with cystic fibrosis and pancreatic insufficiency—treatments, therapies, routines, nutrition, and counting minutes, making sure his body had what it needed before his imagination could have what it wanted.
So when his preschool teacher called him to the front of the class, Brycen didn’t know his life was about to stretch wider than the walls of the classroom. “Brycen,” she said, “Kids Wish Network is making your dream come true, you’re going to Monster Jam!” The class celebrated the only way a room full of little kids know how: monster-truck coloring sheets spread across the tables, crayons, and cupcakes that tasted like pure joy.
It was finally Brycen’s big day - he was going to Monster Jam! First came the Pit Party, and the trucks were bigger than Brycen’s thoughts. Their tires rose like walls, their paint shone under the lights, and every bolt and curve looked like it had been built by someone who understood what awesome meant. He stood close enough to see the details he’d only ever seen on screens—Grave Digger’s fierce grin and El Toro Loco’s wild horns. He met the drivers and leaned into the photos, proud and steady, like he belonged there.
Then the show began. Brycen watched every jump, every turn, every burst of speed with his mouth slightly open, eyes wide and shining. When the trucks launched into the special stunts, he didn’t just clap—he lit up, like the moment had reached inside him and switched something on.
Emmie kept glancing over at him, letting the scene sink in—her son, so happy he could hardly sit still. Later she put it into words that her joy came from simply: “Getting to see how happy it made him.” His dad Austin said his favorite part was watching Brycen’s reactions to everything, the way wonder arrived fresh each time, as if the afternoon kept finding new ways to surprise him.
He also brought back a special keepsake: a shirt signed by El Toro Loco. Austin already knew it would be framed. “It’s his first Monster Jam show and something he can hold onto,” he said.
After all the noise and color, their hotel room at the Hyatt Regency Greenville felt like a quiet landing place. The family was welcomed warmly, and the kindness didn’t stop at the front desk. Waiting in the room was another surprise: a Grave Digger truck! Austin said staff at the hotel made the whole family feel special.
Wishes don’t erase hard things, but they can place something bright beside them. For Brycen, Monster Jam wasn’t just an event; it was proof that joy can be loud, close, and real. And for his parents, it was a moment to breathe and watch their little boy be only what he deserved to be that afternoon: a kid, thrilled beyond words.
Many Thanks
