Addison’s Wish: A Night of Country Music Joy with Hudson Westbrook
San Antonio, Texas – Addison’s school volleyball team is always there to support each other, and now they had another big win to celebrate… for Addison! Her teammates, coaches, and family shared in the joy of her major score: Kids Wish Network was making her dream come true, sending Addison to see her favorite country star, Hudson Westbrook, in concert.
Before heading to the venue, Addison and her nana enjoyed every minute of their luxurious hotel stay. “We felt like two queens,” said her nana Candace, recalling their time at Hotel Valencia – San Antonio Riverwalk. It was elegant, and everyone was so kind. There was even a surprise waiting in their room: a decadent charcuterie platter and a bottle of sparkling apple cider. They enjoyed it on their balcony overlooking the picturesque San Antonio River Walk, full of anticipation for the night ahead. Their beautiful accommodations were generously provided by the hotel.
“We were just so excited, we could hardly stand it,” said her nana when they arrived at the San Antonio Rodeo & Stock Show. “Our seats were just three rows back from the railing. You almost couldn't get any closer.” They started the night with the action-packed rodeo competitions. Being so close made it even more thrilling, and they could even feel some of the dirt flying. Her nana joked, “So talk about being baptized. We both loved the rodeo!”
Then it was time for the Hudson Westbrook concert. And as close as they already were, some concert goers noticed Addison’s Kids Wish Network handmade sign and kindly invited her to stand with them in the front row, just behind the railing. She was still glowing with happiness thinking back on the show. “The concert was the best,” gushed Addison. “Getting to see my favorite country singer was just amazing!” Addison has no doubt her country idol saw her handmade sign. It was a special night to remember.
When they returned to their hotel, Addison and her nana shared a heartfelt moment, reflecting on everything they had experienced together. They were still giddy and joyful from the excitement. Her nana said, “Is this not the neatest thing you've ever done?” And Addison replied, “Oh, Nana, it's wonderful. It was wonderful!”
“It was a treasured time seeing her so happy,” said her nana. “She's been under some stress lately, and just seeing her set free and so happy really warmed my heart. Kids Wish Network lifted her spirits. Thank you so very very much.”
Being in San Antonio and having the time of her life was also a full-circle moment, reframing difficult memories. It was previously where Addison underwent treatment. She was in a traumatic accident that left her with a severed ankle, exposed bone, and a broken arm. Addison was airlifted to a hospital far from home, where she spent months recovering, and the challenges kept coming. She later developed chronic osteomyelitis, a serious and recurring bone infection. She also needed a halo device to keep her foot and ankle stabilized, traveling to San Antonio every two weeks to have it adjusted. Addison continues to undergo physical therapy.
