Wish is Golden with Denver Nuggets and Lavish Luxuries
DENVER, Colo. (December 2023): Lucas was at a school assembly when he received life-changing news. The assistant director called him to the stage and announced that Kids Wish Network was making his dream come true, sending him to Denver to be a Nugget for a Day with his favorite basketball team, the Denver Nuggets! The auditorium echoed with excitement from his friends and peers.
Everything about his wish was golden, especially being honored as a Nugget for a Day with the Denver Nuggets. Lucas felt like he arrived, and he did, in a luxurious chauffeured stretch limousine with ambient interior lighting that sported his team’s colors. Transportation was courtesy of Denver Limo Service who provided transportation to and from Ball Arena.
He felt so special as each part of his experience unfolded. Lucas was gifted an autographed basketball along with other mementos, and got to shoot hoops on the Nuggets home court. His first session was while the cheerleaders practiced, and when he returned for more hoop time, he met player Jalen Pickett. One of his favorite memories was touring the locker room, and meeting his inspiration, Nikola Jokic. “It was so great seeing him so happy and just amazed at all the players,” said his mom Sandra. “They were all super nice to him.”
Another memorable experience was sitting courtside for pregame warmups. It was a coveted perspective, and gave him more opportunities to meet players like Christian Braun who autographed his Nuggets NBA fan chain. The excitement of the game was also elevated, watching all the action from Club Level seats. With the special attention came fame. Lucas was featured on the Jumbotron, and had his meaningful time with the team professionally documented by Nuggets media, which they posted on their Instagram. He was flooded with support from so many friends and family who reached out to let him know they saw it. Lucas’ Nugget for a Day experience and family’s Club seats were graciously donated by the Denver Nuggets.
His family enjoyed swanky accommodations at the Thompson Denver, a luxurious boutique hotel with views of the downtown and Rocky Mountains. They were surprised with two rooms, and Lucas received gifts on his bed and gold macarons. He said his room was amazing! The night that they returned from the game, the hotel further celebrated Lucas with mocktails. Their stay was generously provided by the hotel. They were also treated to breakfasts at its signature restaurant Chez Maggy, developed by Michelin-Star Chef Ludo Lefebvre. The family’s meals were courtesy of the restaurant.
During his wish trip, they also dined on lobster at the Water Grill, and indulged in many decadent desserts. Lunch was also memorable at Earl’s Kitchen + Bar, Lucas enjoyed a steak and all the attentive service. The family’s meals were donated by the restaurants.
“Lucas still talks about his experience,” said his mom. “He says how lucky and blessed he is. Thank you very very much, it meant a lot.”
Lucas has ulcerative colitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis.
