Vick’s Wish Comes True with Mickey, Magic, and Family Memories
Anaheim, California – Vick loves watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and he wished he could do the Hot Dog Dance with Mickey, just like his adored Disney friends. When Vick found out Kids Wish Network was sending him to Disneyland, he enthusiastically named his favorite characters and wanted to go pronto! In the meantime, his wish stayed on his mind. He eagerly told everyone about it.
“He told his teacher and all of his friends at school that he’s going to Disneyland on a big airplane,” said his mom Heather. “I most look forward to going on the rides with him and Vick just having a good time.” They were also excited to see the World of Color nighttime spectacular at Disney California Adventure Park, Disneyland’s parade, and fireworks.
Vick’s wish was a celebration of smiles, laughter, and cherished family moments. With park hopper passes for both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park, his family was able to take in all the magic. Their special passes to skip the lines also brought next level fun without the wait.
Vick’s biggest joy was meeting his adored Disney characters, and even some superheroes. His family took so many photos, capturing each precious moment.
Kids Wish Network provided his family’s flights, hotel accommodations near Disneyland, and the means for incidentals and additional wish expenses.
“He had a blast!” said his mom Heather. It was a treasured getaway for his family, and they’re so grateful that Vick could experience something so meaningful to him after his ongoing struggles with esophageal atresia. He was born with the rare condition that caused his esophagus to form into two separate segments. At only three days old, he had his first surgery to detach his esophagus from his windpipe, and it revealed additional complications.
Vick stayed in the NICU for the first year of his life. He also copes with weakened lungs from recurrent aspiration pneumonia, and he is fed through a G-Tube. He works with a food therapist in the hope he’ll eventually be able to eat solid food, but it’s a slow process, with doctors expecting it to take another 8 to 10 years.
