Photography Wish Develops Artistic Voice into Meaningful Stories
ANAHEIM, Calif. (January 2024): When Joseph’s wish came true, his beaming smile communicated the words that he could no longer speak. Photography is what makes his heart sing, and Kids Wish Network further inspired his love of taking pictures with a Canon EOS Rebel T7 DSLR camera, tripod, and camera bag for all his essentials. Joseph also received a beautiful new 10.9 inch iPad Air, Apple’s newest generation technology so he could edit and store his photos, and fulfill another part of his wish. Nick Carver Photography graciously donated its complete series of online courses, and a bonus series to help Joseph fully master his photo techniques. His wish will further inspire his love of taking pictures and continue to spark his picture-taking joy.
Joseph appeared healthy until symptoms emerged that led to his diagnosis of spinocerebellar ataxia, an inherited progressive and degenerative condition that affects the cerebellum and spinal cord. Over a short period of time, it brought on life-changing challenges. Joseph first lost his ability to walk, and is now in a wheelchair. His condition also affected his ability to swallow, so he has a feeding tube to supplement his nutrition. Another major adjustment has been losing his ability to speak, now relying on an app on his iPad to communicate. Joseph’s new camera will develop his artistic voice into meaningful stories.
