Cozy Moments and Big Smiles for Myles at Great Wolf Lodge

Manteca, California – When Myles was a baby, he experienced hypoxic spells where his lips and fingertips would suddenly turn blue due to a rapid decrease of oxygen in his blood. These episodes were caused by Tetralogy of Fallot, a rare heart condition involving four different heart defects. It was especially scary when Myles had open-heart surgery at only seven months old. Over time, additional diagnoses brought new challenges, and the stress added up.

That’s why Myles’ wish meant more than just a getaway. Burdens felt lighter, days felt more carefree, and his family could simply enjoy time together without constant worry.

Myles’ wish was a family adventure at The Great Wolf Lodge in Manteca, California. Their days were filled with smiles as they enjoyed the resort’s massive indoor water park, themed activities, and cozy surroundings. “I cherished seeing how excited the kids were,” said his mom Katie, through happy tears. “I remember sitting by the fireplace and looking at my kids with their eyes so big looking around at everything taking it all in. It was something really special that I wouldn’t be able to do, so I’m so appreciative Myles was able to experience it.”

Some of their favorite moments included time at the water park, storytime by the fireplace, meeting characters, building forts in their hotel room, playing the claw game in the arcade, and nightly dance parties complete with bubbles and lights. Being away also brought out the best in Myles. “It was funny, he even helped me straighten up the hotel room. If only he would do that at home,” his mom joked. “He absolutely loved Great Wolf Lodge. He was super excited before we went, and continues to talk about it. He already wants to go back.” Great Wolf Lodge generously sponsored the wish by donating his family’s accommodations.

Kids Wish Network provided the Platinum Dining package, and the family enjoyed favorites like pizza, chicken nuggets, burgers, ice cream, and donuts at the lodge’s themed restaurants. Dining on property made everything feel more relaxed and gave them even more time to enjoy the resort. Kids Wish Network also provided the means for travel expenses and incidentals.

“We made a core memory for them,” said Myles’ mom. “It was so great watching the kids laugh and play with each other, and us being able to have some family time together. It was much needed. We appreciate everything, thank you so much.”

Kids Wish Network could not have provided this wish to Myles without the help of Great Wolf Lodge (Manteca, California), and the many supporters who believe in making wishes come true for kids who need hope. Also a special thank you to Myles’ teacher for revealing that his wish to the Great Wolf Lodge was coming true.
