A Special Wish for Swings, Sunshine, and LEGO Magic

Knoxville, Iowa - Kendrick was born premature, and it was a frightening time for his family with so many “what ifs” and urgent decisions to make. He was hemorrhaging and needed a blood transfusion right away because his body was unable to form clots to stop the bleeding. Kendrick also had airway clearance impairment and hydrocephalus, and underwent surgery for the excess fluid around his brain.

As he grew, his list of conditions continued to expand. Kendrick was diagnosed with Prader Willi syndrome, an illness that causes weak muscle tone, insatiable hunger, and a multitude of complications throughout the body. He sees a local endocrinologist and an out of state specialist for his condition, and his medical plan is expanding to include physical therapy.

One of Kendrick’s greatest joys is a carefree day at the park, blissfully enjoying the soothing motion of the swing. His family dreamed of him having that same happiness at home with a swing set in his own backyard. Kids Wish Network is making it possible with generous Amazon gift cards that his parents can use to shop for his very own playground.

“He absolutely loves swings, so that’s been our main focus,” said his mom Dodi. With this support, they can create the ultimate outdoor play space for impromptu playtime in the fresh air.

Family adventures are also ahead for Kendrick in Florida when they travel for his upcoming specialist appointment. During their visit, they will be going to LEGOLAND, where even more fun awaits. His family’s admission is courtesy of Merlin’s Magic Wand.
