BLACKLICK, Ohio: Children’s charity Kids Wish Network worked quickly to grant the wish of 3-year-old Hunter Miller to visit Disney World and SeaWorld before his father, a major in the Ohio National Guard, deployed for another year.
For the Miller family, time together is extremely precious. Dewey Miller, Hunter’s father, was actively deployed in 2011 when his son was born and faced serious medical complications. Hunter was born three months premature when his mother, Cassidy Miller, required an emergency C-section. Hunter spent the next 403 days in the NICU during in which time he had his first heart surgery at just 10 days old.
Hunter suffers from multiple life-threatening illnesses: chronic lung disease, cerebral palsy, asthma, adrenal suppression, hypoglycemia and seizures. He takes a range of medications and utilizes an oxygen tube and G-tube at all times. He also follows a rigorous routine of physical, occupational, and speech therapies.
Despite these serious medical issues, Hunter is sweet little boy who tries to be as active as possible. He likes playing outside with his cars for as long as he can and loves anything related to the original Disney characters. And when Hunter got to meet some of his favorites, his eyes lit up with excitement and a smile spread from ear to ear.
“I’ve never seen my little guy so happy,” recalls Cassidy.
Kids Wish Network made this meeting possible during Hunter’s wish trip to visit the Florida theme parks. While the charity creates an extra special wish for every child, making Hunter’s dream come true before his father deploys again was another piece that made his wish magical. Hunter and his parents enjoyed five days of family fun featuring luxury accommodations, kid-friendly dinners, and first-time experiences. Hunter loved his first plane ride, first Chuck E. Cheese visit, and first SeaWorld and Disney World adventure.
“We are blessed beyond words for the once-in-a-lifetime experience with Hunter; miracles and dreams really do come true,” adds Cassidy. “We couldn’t have made this happen without Kids Wish Network. Thanks a million for the memories made and making our son’s dream come true.”
Kids Wish Network would like to thank all the generous sponsors that helped make Hunter’s wish and the Miller family’s experience unforgettable: Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista, Chuck E. Cheese, Bahama Breeze, T-Rex Café, Compassion Partners Program, and Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
The Miller family is striving to have Hunter start eating solid food so that his G-tube can be removed.
