Adelyn has never flown before, and really wanted to experience a special place where she could jet to by plane. Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses, booked airfare for her family to experience Disneyland and Hollywood for a memorable California adventure. She was so excited for her big trip and her first time flying! Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and the theme parks closed along with most everything throughout the country. Kids Wish made sure she’d still be getting her wish with a special travel package, providing her family with the airline credit from the canceled flight, and purchasing Adelyn a generous Disney Gift card that can be used for anything in the parks, and a Hotels.com gift card. They can venture to California when all the attractions reopen and they feel safe to travel.
Adelyn was born with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a group of disorders that affect connective tissues supporting blood vessel walls, joints, skin, and various other organs and tissues. At birth, she also experienced complications, needing oxygen and a feeding tube. The tube damaged her vocal chords, and by the time she was three years old, she couldn’t speak above a whisper and underwent surgery to repair them.
“Adelyn is excited that she’ll still get to experience her first flight, along with the rest of her California adventure,” said her Wish Coordinator Kim Kreiner.
