The severity of Makenna’s cerebral palsy makes her dependent on others for all her needs. She also relies on a feeding tube for nutrition due to an additional swallowing disorder. It’s the simplest of moments that make her smile. Makenna’s world feels transformed when she’s out of her wheelchair and joyfully enjoying the carefree freedom of swinging on the playground. Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses, made Makenna’s dream come true with an adaptive high-back bucket swing, giving her ongoing moments of bliss in her own backyard. Sparks@Play, a consulting, design, installation, construction and maintenance services company for commercial and governmental clients, offered the high-grade commercial playground swing at a generously discounted rate.
“It’s so wonderful that Makenna can now experience the joy of her own swing whenever she feels like it, and in the tranquility of her own yard,” said her Wish Coordinator Kim Kreiner.
