Wish Kid Tours Caldwell Zoo VIP Style

Kamden loves animals, from the smallest penguin to the largest elephant, Kamden is fascinated with them all. Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses crafted the perfect VIP experience at the Caldwell Zoo with a behind the scenes adventure tour.

On the day of his wish, Kamden and his mom were chauffeured to the zoo in an elegant stretch limousine courtesy of Brookins Limousine Service. When he arrived, Kamden was greeted by their personal zoo guide who took him to animal feedings, exciting exhibits and helped Kamden plan his own special adventure. One of Kamden’s favorite parts was feeding grapes to the zoo’s black bear siblings, Timber and Tyler. “Kamden was happiest near the bears. Seeing him have a good time and interact with the tour guide was really great,” said his mom Amanda. He also had a fantastic time feeding giraffes and painting with the zoo’s resident artist, Tanya the elephant. Kamden even got to take home Tanya’s unique painting as a souvenir to remember his wild wish. He had a blast during his personal penguin encounter where he met the zoo’s mischief making pair of penguins, Duncan and Speedy.

Kamden also saw lions and visited the warthog and meerkat exhibits. He said, “I got to see Timon and Pumbaa.” During his wish, Kamden and his mom had lunch provided by The Grove Kitchen & Gardens where they had delectable chicken fried Texas quail tenders among other goodies.

Kamden suffers from sickle cell anemia and has had several medical crises, including multiple silent strokes. His immune system is severely compromised which leads to more complications with his condition. “We’re so glad Kamden was able to share such a memorable time with his mom and his favorite animals,” said Kids Wish Network Executive Director Tam Lai.
