Wish Kid Cole loves James Bond movies, playing video games, and especially anything to do with fishing.
During his one week check-up after birth, Wish Kid Cole’s body was displaying odd coloring, and he wasn’t gaining weight properly. An MRI led to the discovery of a heart murmur. Other tests showed a congenital heart defect called tricuspid atresia, a condition in which the tricuspid heart valve is missing or abnormally developed, and the defect blocks blood flow from the right atrium to the right ventricle. Cole endured two different surgeries to rearrange his heart valves. Since then, he has also dealt with several medical emergencies for other conditions that required surgeries on his brain and lungs.
His personality is funny, helpful and sweet. Cole maintains a happy disposition even though he has been through so many difficulties with his health since birth. His dream was to experience a deep sea fishing adventure, so Kids Wish Network casted out farther, creating the perfect fish-worthy wish in paradise. Cole and his family went to Islamorada, Florida!
First Choice Charters was a great catch, taking Wish Kid Cole and his family to a hot spot of fishing action. “We started catching Yellow Tail Snapper, Blue Runners, Hound Fish, File Fish, and a shark”, said Cole. But the big moment came when Cole caught the big one that didn’t get away. “And then I caught the giant Black Grouper…. It was awesome! I’ve never caught anything nearly that big before. It was huge!”
Wish Kid Cole made a new friend of the dolphin kind at Dolphins Plus, where he experienced a special and memorable adventure, watching dolphins perform tricks and enjoying time with them in the water. Fury Adventures also invited the family aboard their state-of-the-art Catamaran for a spectacular snorkeling tour to explore Key West’s crystal blue waters and wonders of North America’s only living reef.
Wish Kid Cole’s vacation was postcard perfect. He experienced paradise, having the beach as his playground and the picturesque scenery of Islamorada staying at the Postcard Inn Beach Resort and Marina. The resort went above and beyond having Cole’s family as VIP guests for a beachside showing of one of his favorite James Bond films. Cole also enjoyed the freshest catches, dining waterfront overlooking the Key West harbor at the Hot Tin Roof, scenic beachside dining at Marker 88, delectable bites dining canal side at Sharkey’s Pub and Galley, and had a delicious gourmet picnic lunch prepared for his family by the Trading Post.
