Chloe’s meaningful dream was coming true… she was going to LEGOLAND California through Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses. Kids Wish was flying Chloe and her family to San Diego for her vibrant wish that also included a stay at the LEGOLAND Hotel and visit to SEA LIFE Aquarium. It was a very exciting time with her trip swiftly approaching, until something unexpected happened. The COVID-19 pandemic hit, and most everything closed, including all the major theme parks. Kids Wish is making sure that Chloe still gets to venture to LEGOLAND when it reopens, sending her family airline credit from the original flight, LEGOLAND California tickets, a generous Hotels.com gift card, and a Happy Dining card that their family can use at a variety of fabulous restaurants such as The Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang’s and more. It’ll be a special time of family togetherness.
When Chloe was five, her parents noticed a cyst on her leg, and within a couple months she had several bumps on her neck the size of gumballs. She had high fevers, and the cysts would rupture, heal and be replaced by new ones. After many years of trips to the doctor, ER and rounds of antibiotics, she was diagnosed with branchial cleft anomaly. At one of Chloe’s emergency room visits, her throat was full of infection. The plan was to let the cyst heal and then schedule a surgery to remove it. What was expected to be a relatively simple surgery turned into a high-risk situation. It lasted ten hours after the surgeon discovered the cyst was intertwined with a major artery and her thyroid gland. It was a very stressful time of unknowns, and she remained in the hospital for a week.
“Chloe’s wish will give her something special to look forward to, and so many meaningful moments with her family,” said her Wish Coordinator Kim Kreiner.
Kids Wish Network would like to thank Merlin’s Magic Wand for providing LEGOLAND California theme park tickets for Chloe’s wish.
