Washington Wizards newest player wish kid Elijah

“Elijah now thinks he’s an official member of the Wizards”

Wish Kid Elijah was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalustwo life-threatening conditions. To treat the hydrocephalus, a shunt was implanted in his brain to drain the fluid. The shunt, however, caused Elijah to start having seizures and has also needed several revision surgeries over the years.

Elijah has suffered through multiple other sugeries; two bladder augmentation surgeries; one to help straighten the muscles in his legs, a result of spina bifida; and another to remove 100 stones from his bladder.

Wish Kid Elijah

As another result of spina bifida Elijah is wheelchair bound. He isn’t able to ride a bike or easily go to the park, but he does his best to remain positive and helpful. He loves to watch sports, especially basketball, so KWN couldn’t wait to give him an unforgettable experience.

Kids Wish Network worked with the Washington Wizards and Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation to give Elijah a Washington D.C. superstar experience. He was able to tour historical museums, ride in a limo, and be the VIP at a Wizards game.

Elijah got to meet player Bradley Beal, the Wizards’ cheerleaders, the mascot, was given a personalized jersey, sat in the team’s Presidential Suite, and got to take home player John Wall’s shoes.

KWN would like to thank all the generous sponsors that helped make Elijah’s wish trip so spectacular:
