Athena Petreshock’s health took a drastic turn a few years ago. She became very ill and was airlifted to the hospital – she wasn’t expected to survive. Having multi system organ failure, she spent months in the hospital, and the damage her body suffered left Athena with a lengthy list of medical complex conditions. She’s also had to adjust to relying on a wheelchair. Her struggles have been overwhelming, and escaping through music is what helps her cope. Athena was so excited to see her all-time favorite band My Chemical Romance in concert for their reunion tour – their first show in nearly a decade. And then a major disappointment… With the COVID-19 pandemic, the concert was rescheduled for the following year. This loyal fan’s anticipation was unwavering as she continued to count down the days to the new tour date in Philadelphia. Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses, made Athena’s dream come true, purchasing her two extraordinary Platinum concert tickets for the ultimate up-close experience! When she found out, it was all so surreal for the teen whose emotions bubbled over with happy tears. Kids Wish also purchased Athena dozens of items on her wish list from her favorite store Hot Topic.
“We’re thrilled we could give Athena such a meaningful and elevated experience that she’ll always remember,” said her Wish Coordinator Kim Kreiner.
