Brothers Donald and Joseph have a life-threatening autoimmune condition. They also share many of the same dreams, and were hoping to visit New York City and experience the city that never sleeps. Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses, sent them on a memorable trip to experience the history and vibrant excitement of the Big Apple.
The brothers and their family traveled by train from Albany, New York to Penn Station in New York City. They had beautiful accommodations at the historic Roosevelt Hotel. Donald and Joseph’s first adventure was at Madame Tussauds, they had fun taking pictures with all the famous wax figures.
Other highlights of their trip included the American Museum of Natural History where they explored the educational exhibits and learned about the history of the natural world. Dinner was also memorable with fine dining at The Palm West Side, one of the best meals they ever had.
Another fun day of sightseeing included the iconic Statue of Liberty. Donald and Joseph’s family were led on an amazing tour of the island and statue by a park ranger. Their day’s activities continued with a tour of NBC studios, getting a behind-the-scenes look at how the station operates and creating their own mock news show. Donald and Joseph also enjoyed an electric dining experience at Dave & Buster’s in Times Square. They had a blast playing arcade games, and they felt special dining in a private room.
On the last day of their trip, they ventured to Ripley’s Believe it or Not Odditorium in Times Square. The brothers marveled at all the weird oddities from around the world.
“It was wonderful that Donald and Joseph could share their very special wish adventure,” said Kids Wish Network Executive Director Tam Lai.
