David struggles with the unthinkable challenges of his rare condition. He was born with bladder exstrophy, a birth defect where his bladder developed inside out and on the outside of the body. At just a couple days old, he underwent a long and complicated surgery to repair his bladder and reposition it internally. He continues to have ongoing complications, and so far has undergone a total of 21 surgeries. Even with all that he endures, he aspires to be a firefighter just like his dad. David loves all the Ghostbusters films, and said if he could meet anyone, it would be Ghostbusters! Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses, planned an extraordinary wish, arranging for David and his mom to attend the red carpet movie premiere of Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and the premiere was postponed to the following year. Being that it was so far away, his family decided it’s best if David receives a special wish that he can enjoy now. He really wanted a laptop for gaming, so Kids Wish purchased him a MacBook Air and state-of-the art Sony wireless noise cancelling headphones – he was so excited he could now play his favorite game Farming Simulator!
“David was thrilled when he found out he’d be getting such an amazing laptop and headphones,” said his Wish Coordinator Melissa Calabrese. “We’re so glad his wish will bring him ongoing happiness.”
