Tezavion was having a normal day at school when he suddenly felt sick and began vomiting. He went to the hospital, and was later airlifted to The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center. He was transported without family by his side, after the unexpected happened. His grandfather who took him to the hospital had a heart attack, and had to stay behind for his own care. During his time in the hospital, Tezavion had multiple procedures and surgeries including an external ventricular drain to relieve pressure inside his brain.
Tezavion was very flexible and compliant in receiving medical care. His first few physical therapy sessions were especially challenging, but Tezavion persevered and didn’t let the uncertainty and discomfort of his condition outshine his hope and positivity. “Although he was in a lot of pain and had to go through difficult procedures, he was brave and did what was asked of him,” said Makenna Brown his child life specialist at The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center. She nominated Tezavion as a Hero for Kids Wish Network’s Hero of the Month program. Kids Wish Network is happy to recognize Tezavion for the brave Hero he is. Congratulations Tezavion!
