Don`t mess with Texas Cheyenne battered up to battle cancer

“It gave her hope for the future and brought her so much joy”

An incident on the softball field that landed Cheyenne in the hospital resulted in a far worse discovery. Cheyenne was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Cancer. She underwent surgery to remove the two centimeter tumor, her thyroid, and some lymph nodes. However, a follow-up scan showed that the cancer had spread to Cheyenne’s neck tissues and other lymph nodes, necessitating a second surgery.

Kids Wish Network surprised the cheerleader at her school’s basketball event with the news that she was being granted a wish for a dream vacation to New York City. With all of the glitz and glamour that the Big Apple has to offer, KWN secured tickets for Cheyenne to her favorite play, Les Misérables, on Broadway.

The night of the show, professional make-up artist Andi Sleeman arrived at Cheyenne’s hotel to put the finishing touches on her red-carpet look. A limousine, courtesy of U.S. Limo Service, waited outside to escort her in style to the grand Imperial Theatre in Manhattan.

Les Misérables, the classic musical epic about the survival of the human spirit set against the backdrop of early 19th century France, did not disappoint. After the final curtain call, Cheyenne was led backstage for a special meeting with the cast and orchestra. On her private tour, Cheyenne was introduced to the lead actor and protagonist Alfie Boe, who greeted her with a big hug!IMG_2132

Cheyenne also enjoyed VIP visits to the Statue of Liberty and the 9/11 Tribute Center. She experienced an authentic New York pizza pie at legendary John’s Pizza Time Square and was privy to reservations at dessert hot spot Serendipity III, home of the legendary frozen hot chocolate dish.

When it was time to pack up her playbill and beautiful memories to head home, Cheyenne reminisced about her fabulous vacation in saying “It showed me what kind of life I can live. It gave me hope that I can do great things, and it brought so much joy to not just me, but to my family.”
