Alex never missed school and was among the healthiest in his class. He went to visit the nurse and complained of a sinus infection, where he spent a week in bed. Mom took him to the ER, where the doctors noticed his skin was discolored. Doctors drew blood and 6 hours later, he was diagnosed with leukemia (February 2019). Alex had to go through 5 rounds of chemo, and as of July 2019, he is in remission. He will need a bone marrow transplant later.
