Reece is a huge fan of the Oklahoma State Cowboys, especially their cheerleaders. She also loves everything Disney, and more than anything wanted to experience Disney World. Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses, began her wish at an Oklahoma State football game. She met cheerleaders and mascot Pistol Pete who cheerfully revealed that her dream was coming true… she was going to Disney World!
Kids Wish Network flew Reece’s family to Orlando for her magical Florida adventure. They received the full Disney experience with park hopper passes, having access to all four theme parks. Reece created many special memories meeting her favorite characters Anna & Elsa, Princess Jasmine and Minnie Mouse. During the magical wish, her family stayed at the Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs Resort Area, and had memorable dinners at Bahama Breeze, Carrabba’s, and Blaze Pizza. They also explored aquatic wonders from around the world at SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium courtesy of Merlin’s Magic Wand.
Reece was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, and underwent her first surgery just hours after her birth. She’s endured many surgeries, and undergoes physical/occupational therapies and ongoing medical appointments with a variety of doctors.
“Reece’s wish was a special time of family togetherness where she could be carefree and just enjoy being a kid,” said Kids Wish Network Executive Director Tam Lai.
