Lucie loves Broadway and aspires to work in theatre when she grows up. She is in her school’s drama club and embraces her identity as a theatre nerd. Lucie has a life-threatening condition, and she wished to visit New York City to see some of her favorite musicals. Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses, made her thespian wish come true by sending Lucie and her family to New York City for a Broadway experience.
Broadway.com, donated a generous gift card that Lucie and her family used to see two different shows. Her first day in the big apple Lucie saw Mean Girls and her second night she saw Dear Evan Hansen, a show she had been wanting to see since it first debuted on Broadway two years ago. She absolutely loved the show and made sure to get lots of autographs afterwards at the stage door. she was also invited by Samantha Williams who plays Alana Beck to take a tour of the stage after the production. One of her favorite actors is Andrew Barth Feldman, who played the lead role of Evan Hansen. He is an inspiration to Lucie because of his young age and talent. “It was cool seeing him because he is only 17, and knowing if he can pursue his dreams at such a young age, so can I,” said Lucie.
Aside from the spectacular performances, Lucie loved exploring New York. During her wish, Lucie and her family had a delicious dinner at Carmine’s Italian Restaurant and stayed at the luxurious The Jewel Hotel located just down the street from Rockefeller Center and Times Square. “I loved seeing my girls experience NYC together. They are so close as sisters, and it was fun to watch them have this opportunity together,” said Lucie’s father David.
“We love creating magical wishes that further inspire our Wish Kids to follow their dreams,” said Kids Wish Network Executive Director Tam Lai.
