BUTLER, Pa. (October 2019): Morgan McLaughlin doesn’t have to be asked twice to help his dad mow the lawn, it’s actually something he wants to do any chance he gets. He also collects toy tractors, but his most treasured is his real garden tractor for his favorite kind of outdoor play. Enjoying the great outdoors refocuses his attention on nature and off the stresses of his life-threatening condition. Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses, is making his dream come true, and surprised Morgan with a special reveal that had him seeing lots of green.
It was a typical Monday afternoon, or so Morgan thought. He and his family headed to West Central Equipment, a John Deere retailer in Butler, Pennsylvania. Morgan asked, “Is dad buying a new tractor?” He was in for a heavy-duty surprise. When they arrived, Store Manager Gary Karns warmly greeted Morgan and his family and graciously gifted him a bountiful gift basket filled with an extraordinary assortment of John Deere toys and merchandise. “The staff was so amazing and Morgan received a ton of gifts,” said his mom Tammy. Morgan was in disbelief asking, “Is this all for real?” It was, and there was even more. Karns presented him with another package containing a John Deere puzzle and a card that revealed Kids Wish Network was making his dream come true. Morgan was so excited finding out that he’ll soon be flying to Waterloo to visit John Deere’s main plant and spending the afternoon surrounded by visions of green and yellow with exclusive behind the scenes tours and experiences. He’ll also learn more about John Deere’s history visiting the John Deere Tractor and Engine Museum.
Kids Wish Network Executive Director Tam Lai said, “Morgan’s wish is all encompassing in what sparks his joy.”
