KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (January 2020): Jason loves basketball and wanted to meet a skilled player. Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses, made his dream come true with a private tour and tickets to a Tennessee Volunteers game. He suffers from colitis, a disease characterized by the inflammation of the inner lining of the colon, and a genetic chromosome disorder.
Jason’s wish began with a private tour of the locker room and other facilities at the Thompson-Boling Arena, home of the Tennessee Volunteers. Jason brought his own personal basketball and got most of the players and the head coach to autograph it. He also brought a gift for the team, a Kids Wish Network wish granter basketball by PhotoBall. On the day of the game, Jason spent the entire warm up session out on the court shooting hoops with some of the team’s players. He spent a lot of time with forward John Fulkerson, who he learned was from the same local area. Jason also spent some one-on-one time on the court with Josiah-Jordan James. Josiah even made sure that Jason got to walk out of the team tunnel as the Volunteers were brought out on the court.
Jason had a blast at the game, and loved seeing the Tennessee Volunteers in action. In addition to his amazing experience with the team, they gifted him a pair of shoes and two shirts. Jason can’t wait to wear his new team apparel to school. “The whole experience was amazing,” said Jason’s mom Danielle. During his wish, Jason’s family stayed at The Tennessean Hotel and dined at the Sunspot Restaurant.
“Thank you to the Tennessee Volunteers for making Jason’s wish something he’ll always remember,” said Kids Wish Network Executive Director Tam Lai.
