PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (September 2019): Merisa Melo is an avid reader and lights up when she talks about books. She has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a group of inherited disorders that affect the connective tissues, predominantly skin, joints and blood vessel walls. Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses, made her dream come true, purchasing Merisa a Nook, Nook charger, Nook Folio and generous Barnes & Noble gift card so she can have boundless literary adventures. Kids Wish Network also bought her a Walmart gift card so she could pick out additional things on her wish list.
Kids Wish Network Executive Director Tam Lai said, “We’re so glad Merisa’s wish is expanding her world with even more access to books.”
