GALENA, Ill. (July 2019): Abby Ehrler loves school and academia. She is a smart, confident student that excels at her school work and likes to play on her school’s Jeopardy team. Abby doesn’t have a laptop of her own, and wished to have one for her studies. Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses, made her dream come true, purchasing Abby a MacBook Air. She also received a generous gift card through a grant from her local Wal-Mart in Galena, and tickets to the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium, a fun outing for the whole family.
Abby suffers from papillary thyroid cancer and had to have a total thyroidectomy in which her entire thyroid gland was removed. She will require lifelong medication to maintain her condition.
“It’s wonderful giving Abby a wish that combines her interests and prioritizes her education,” said Kids Wish Network Executive Director Tam Lai.
