Jacob Ferguson recognized as Kids Wish Network Hero of the Month
“Every day he shows us that he is a fighter and will never give up”
Jacob was diagnosed with chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) when he was 10 years old. ITP is a rare blood disorder that causes Jacob’s body to produce specialized white blood cells that destroy his blood platelets and can damage the cells that produce platelets in the bone marrow. Because of his condition, he had to give up wrestling and most physical activities.
Jacob has had several blood transfusions, and his spleen removed in order for his body to start producing platelets at a normal level again. While the surgery was successful, Jacob will have to take penicillin injections twice a day for the rest of his life.
Despite the severity of his condition and the many intrusive procedures Jacob had to endure, he has always remained positive and determined during his hospital stays. While Jacob has Chronic ITP, it hasn’t stopped him from pursuing his goals and fighting for what brings him happiness and fulfillment in his life.
It is with great pride that we honor Jacob’s bravery and positivity by acknowledging him as Kids Wish Network Hero of the Month. Congratulations, Jacob!
