Hero of the Year finalist Wambli

As a Hero of the Month recipient, these super heroes were eligible to be nominated for Kids Wish Network’s Hero of the Year.

Wambli, age 11, has had very big challenges in his life.  He was born with arthrogryposis multiplex congenital, and has bilateral dislocated hips. At the age of 5, his legs were amputated, and he’s undergone multiple surgeries. He’s had rehabilitation stays, prosthetic fittings and many clinic visits.  His most recent treatments have been at Shriners Hospital for Children – Twin Cities in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Wambli’s determination is inspiring. He’s learned how to walk on his stumps, and is able to stand up from the floor, a very difficult task since he has no legs below his knees and his arms are non-functioning.

He’s also a hero to one of his classmates. Wambli noticed that a friend in his class was in distress, and notified the school aide. Thankfully he obtained help, as his friend was having a seizure.
