OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (February 2019): Ty Martin loves basketball and is a huge Oklahoma City Thunder fan. He always wanted to see them play, and Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life threatening illnesses made his dream come true by sending him to an Oklahoma City Thunder basketball game.
Before the big event Ty and his family had a delicious dinner at Texas Roadhouse. The food was wonderful and the staff were incredibly kind. Their waitress even surprised Ty with a scrumptious slice of cheesecake.
After dinner it was time for the big game at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. When they arrived, Ty was surprised with a bag filled with Oklahoma City Thunder swag. Rumble the mascot also visited Ty and brought him down to the court during pregame warmups for photos and to get autographs from players.
“It was an incredible experience, I loved seeing how happy he was,” said Ty’s mom Brook.
Ty was made honorary captain and got to meet each team’s head captain. They also signed a basketball just for him. To end his exciting wish, the Thunder beat the Pelicans in an incredibly close game.
“We love to create special moments of joy and amazement for our wish kids that inspires and delights them,” said Kids Wish Network Executive Director Tam Lai.
