GATLINBURG, Tenn. (January 2019): Ten-year-old Tiffany Fontenot’s only dream was to see snow, but because she lives in southern Alabama, it would only remain a dream. Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes to kids with life-threatening illnesses, brought a smile to Tiffany’s face with a special winter wish and flew her family from Alabama to Gatlinburg, Tennessee to experience her first snowfall.
Tiffany and her family stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn before flying out to Tennessee. She had never flown before, and she absolutely loved being on the airplane. She could hardly stay in her seat when she saw the snowcapped mountains peeking through the clouds below.
After arriving, Tiffany and her family headed to the luxurious Riverstone Resort and Spa where they had a cozy room to unwind in. Her favorite part of her hotel stay was the hot tub which she used to relax in every night. After settling into their room, Tiffany and her family were treated to a scrumptious dinner at the Hard Rock Café.
Tiffany and her family spent their time exploring the Gatlinburg area and walking through a wonderland of dazzling Christmas decorations. After seeing the beautiful Christmas display Tiffany and her family went to WonderWorks and enjoyed dinner at Texas Roadhouse. That night, Tiffany’s dream came true and she got to see snow for the very first time. Tiffany was ecstatic when she saw the first few snowflakes fall from the sky. She and her siblings spent the night playing on a snow covered playground, and even went sledding down a small hill at the resort. “I loved seeing the beautiful snow,” said Tiffany.
After her first time seeing snow, Tiffany continued her special winter wish at Dollywood. Tiffany had a fabulous time enjoying the shows and riding the holiday themed rides. She was absolutely mesmerized by all the Christmas beauty. After a festive day at Dollywood, Tiffany and her family enjoyed a memorable dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.
Tiffany suffers from Apert syndrome, a malformation of the face, skull, hands and feet. She has endured multiple surgeries to lessen her symptoms, but she still faces hardships. Her lungs were also damaged, and she had to undergo a tracheostomy in order to breathe properly.
“We love giving our wish kids experiences that elevate even the simplest wish into moments of magic,” said Kids Wish Network Executive Director Tam Lai.
