“It was an amazing experience. What 16-year-old from Nebraska gets to do this!”
It was lights, camera, action for future director and Wish Kid Elijah Fitzpatrick during his once-in-a-lifetime wish from Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses. He aspires to be a film director, and had the ultimate Hollywood director experience during his wish.
Kids Wish Network flew Elijah and his family to Los Angeles. They were chauffeured in style by Norman Lewis Limousines to the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank. It was meaningful for him going to Disney Legends Plaza. Elijah saw iconic bronzed handprints, including his most revered, a casting by former director himself, Stan Lee. The aspiring film director also toured Walt Disney’s nostalgia-filled office, seeing Walt’s original renderings of Disneyland and collection of Oscars on his special wish. Elijah felt golden, being so close to Walt’s treasured Oscar statuettes.
During Elijah’s wish, he was also thrilled to witness the production of a movie. “It was an amazing experience,” said Elijah’s mom Julianne. “What 16-year-old from Nebraska gets to do this!” Even though Elijah deals with the challenges of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, his wish gave him motivation and hope. “He hasn’t stopped talking about it,” said his mom. “Thank you so much for his wish.”
As part of Elijah’s wish experience, the family stayed at the beautiful Andaz West Hollywood in its opulent Penthouse Suite and enjoyed memorable dining at the Cheesecake Factory.
“Elijah’s wish was life-changing for him, and something that he never thought possible,” said Kids Wish Network Executive Director Tam Lai. “We feel fortunate that we can provide our Wish Kids with experiences that further inspire their future goals.”
Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following sponsors for making Elijah’s dreams become a reality:
