HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (November 2018): From a big bag of toys to a Caribbean dream cruise, Wish Kid Joey Brady had his dream come true through Kids Wish Network. Referred by Joe DiMaggio Hospital, Joey was nominated for Hero of the Month. However, it was discovered that Joey had suffered from life threatening conditions, so when Kids Wish Network board member Mr. Andrew Gottlieb heard of Joey’s story he chose to personally sponsor his wish to bring a smile to his face
Joey’s wish was revealed at Kids Wish Network’s gift bank hosted at Joe DiMaggio hospital where he showed up dressed as his favorite musician Gene Simmons and was grinning from ear to ear.
In addition to all the new toys, Mr. Gottlieb gave Joey a huge high-five and a $500 Wal-Mart gift card for him to use on whatever he wanted. “All this for me,” said Joey in disbelief. Joey had simply wished for a chance to swim in a big pool but Kids Wish Network felt he deserved so much more for what he had to endure and soon Joey would be able to swim in the ocean, the biggest pool in the world. “I loved spending time with Joey, I’m so happy I was able to put a smile on his face,” said Mr. Gottlieb.
Joey suffers from cerebral palsy, a congenital disorder of movement, muscle tone, and posture. Joey has had multiple surgeries and doctors believed that he would never be able to walk on his own. But Joey persevered and made tremendous progress during his recovery. He’s now able to take a few steps at a time with the help of his walker.
“Our wish kids are incredibly brave and have to endure a lot of pain and discomfort,” said Kids Wish Network Executive Director Tam Lai. “We are honored to provide them with moments of happiness, hope and joy.”
