MEDFORD, Or. (November 2018): Lydia Smith had her wish granted by Kids Wish Network for a princess themed bedroom makeover. Lydia started her wish at the JC Penney Salon where she received a fabulous makeover worthy of a princess. She loved her hairstylist who made her feel really special.
While Lydia was busy being pampered with her mom, her dad stayed home to welcome the movers from both Legacy Furniture and Ashley Homestore. The movers brought in and set up Lydia’s new princess furniture so that when she returned home she would be greeted by a princess getaway all her own.
Before heading home to her big surprise Lydia dressed up as Sleeping Beauty, tiara and all. When Lydia arrived, she was greeted by her favorite Disney Princess Jasmine, and a news crew to film her special day.
Lydia has endured six years of medical complications and a battle with retinoblastoma that caused partial blindness in her left eye. Her wish provided her with a light at the end of the tunnel to look forward to.
When Lydia walked into her room she was speechless. Included in her new furniture was a dresser and mirror combo, a nightstand, a toy box and a beautiful four-post canopy bed adorned with pink and white rainbows. In addition, Cloud 9 Designs customized a princess quilt to match Lydia’s new bed. Lydia also received a porcelain Sleeping Beauty doll that she could hardly put down.
But as one final surprise, Lydia received a gift bag from Ashley Homestore filled with miniature Disney princesses, a mermaid tail blanket and two tickets to attend The Nutcracker ballet at the Roxander Studio where, coincidentally, Lydia takes ballet classes.
“We are thrilled to give Lydia the princess makeover of her dreams,” said Kids Wish Network Director Tam Lai. “After everything she’s been through Lydia deserves a space that makes her feel like a true princess.”
