At the age of 2, Kaleb developed a bump that his parents initially thought was a cyst after a minor fall. It grew, and a biopsy revealed the unexpected. At the age of 3, Kaleb was the youngest child to ever be diagnosed with mammary analogue secretory carcinoma (MASC). After his diagnosis, he spent 9 days in the hospital. Treatment was intensive…Kaleb needed daily radiation for 3 months, and underwent 5 surgeries. Due to Kaleb having an uncommon gene, there’s also a risk he could develop another form of cancer in the future. It was time for something good to happen in Kaleb’s life. Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life threatening illnesses, found out that Kaleb loves LEGOs and aquatic life – especially sharks. A personalized wish was created for Kaleb and revealed through the most fun “Discovery.”
During Kaleb’s wish, he enjoyed a day of exploring all the interactive exhibits at LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Philadelphia. It was a memorable day of family togetherness. When he thought his wish was over, there was more. LEGOLAND Discovery surprised Kaleb with a special reveal on behalf of Kids Wish Network… they presented Kaleb and his family with tickets to Adventure Aquarium in Camden, New Jersey. LEGOLAND Discovery Center also created a custom shark nametag for Kaleb made entirely of LEGOs. He loved it so much, and slept with it at night.
The next portion of Kaleb’s meaningful wish had him exploring wondrous aquatic life at Adventure Aquarium. He and his family received a private tour and experienced their special Touch A Shark exhibit, where he had an up-close encounter, seeing and touching some of the most exotic sharks in the world. He also took home shark teeth and eggs that the aquarium gifted to him as special souvenirs.
FOX 29 Philadelphia filmed and broadcasted his meaningful wish, making it an extra thrilling experience of stardom. He excitedly told his mom, “Everyone has seen me on TV!”
