Kiya’s Wish With Chef Duff Goldman Stirs up Rainbows and Happiness

Wish Kid Kiya loves baking and watching cooking competition shows. Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life threatening illnesses helped Kiya experience her sweetest wish. Kiya had the most flavorful and “charming” dream come true with renowned Pastry Chef and Food Network star Chef Duff Goldman. He invited Kiya to bake colorful French macarons adapted from his private recipe collection.

Kids Wish Network flew Kiya and her family to California for her sweet adventure. Chef Duff was the perfect mix of knowledge and fun, teaching baking skills and sharing engaging stories. Kiya reveled in getting creative in the kitchen. “I love that I got to use a blowtorch to melt butter,” said Kiya. “And adding different stuff to macarons to make them taste how I wanted.” Chef Duff also put a whimsical spin on the confection, showing Kiya how to use a special piping technique for creating macarons swirled as colorful as a rainbow. For added sparkle, Chef Duff and Kiya topped off the cookies with edible glitter.“Nice job chef,” said Chef Duff to Kiya. “You did it! We did it! Who’s ready for cookies!”

“My favorite memory was seeing Kiya light up as she listened to Mr. Goldman,” said her mom Lakisha. “He showed her how she can take a recipe and turn it into her very own. We’d like to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for making Kiya’s wish come true.”

Chef Duff also kindly gifted Kiya with his autographed cookbooks Ace of Cakes, Duff Bakes, and many additional presents, including his signature Cake-In-A-Jar from his L.A. bakery Cake Mix.

“Chef Duff Goldman made Kiya’s baking lesson both educational and entertaining with his expertise, imaginative baking style and humor,” said Kids Wish Network Marketing Director Anna Lanzatella. “We’re so grateful to Chef Duff for graciously inviting us into his home, his warm hospitality and making Kiya’s wish so extraordinary.”

During Kiya’s wish, Kids Wish Network provided accommodations at the Andaz West Hollywood. The family also enjoyed lodging at the Hilton Garden Inn Jacksonville Airport, dining at Musso & Frank Grill, and being chauffeured by First Class Limousine.

Chef Duff is best known for his bakery Charm City Cakes featured on Food Network’s Ace of Cakes, and is currently a host and judge on Food Network’s Kids Baking Championship. Since returning home, Kiya has been inspired by Chef Duff to create recipes with her own twist of flavors. Her wish will always stir up the sweetest and happiest memories.

Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following sponsors for making Kiya’s dreams become a reality:
