She hopes to take a fun trip and create special memories with her family.
Allyson was vomiting frequently. At school, it was also noticeable that something was wrong. Allyson had an episode where she zoned out and became stuck in a repetitive cycle of cutting with scissors. Her teacher was unable to help her stop. The most frightening moment was when Allyson had a seizure in her bathtub – her mom thought the worst when she was unresponsive.
Allyson went through a series of tests including multiple EEG, MRI and CT scans. Testing revealed that she had occipital epilepsy, a neurological disorder that arises from excessive neural activity in the occipital lobe of the brain. Symptoms can include seeing patterns, flashing lights or colors, or images that appear to repeat, as well as other visual effects. Allyson takes medications to help control her condition, but she still has issues with vomiting, and is lethargic and sleeps a lot.
Allyson likes unicorns, collecting memory boxes, watching softball and Disney movies. She hopes to take a fun trip and create special memories with her family. Allyson also aspires to be a neonatal nurse when she grows up, and is very loving, always thinking of others. Even though she struggles with her own condition, when asked who she would give a gift to, she selflessly answered a child with cancer.
