“His smile says it all!”
Caleb, age 7, was nominated for Hero of the Month by Care Coordinator Kalee Sorrells of Children’s Rehabilitation Service Tuscaloosa. Kalee said, “You won’t ask why I nominated him when you see Caleb in a three piece suit!” He has Achondroplasia, a form of short-limbed dwarfism, and has had multiple surgeries for varying ailments. He attends first grade, and his school experience has meant learning to access the world outside of his home and comfort zone. He works hard to learn and master the school environment. Caleb has a big personality, and is always “working” or has plans to achieve his goals. He is confident, vibrant, and loves to preach the Gospel to those who will listen, and shares his talent of playing the drums at his church. “He never backs down from a challenge, and lives life with the joy and perseverance of a true hero,” said Kalee. She surprised Caleb at his school, gathering his family and the office staff to celebrate him as a special hero. In addition to Caleb receiving a Hero of the Month certificate, Kids Wish Network also awarded Caleb a generous retailer’s gift card, Hero Bear, Hero T-shirt, and some additional goodies. Kaylee said, “His smile said it all!”
It is with great pride that we honor Caleb’s bravery by recognizing him as Kids Wish Network’s along with Children’s Rehabilitation Service Tuscaloosa’s Hero of the Month. Congratulations Caleb!
