Drake didn’t show any signs of health issues until a sudden onslaught of headaches and vomiting. These symptoms persisted and continued to get worse. Drake was taken to the ER, and CAT scans revealed that he had Myogenic Medulloblastoma, a type of brain tumor that originates in the back part of the brain called the cerebellum. In up to 1/3 of cases, it can spread to other parts of the brain and spinal cord, and the tumor typically blocks normal fluid movement around the brain, resulting in a buildup of fluid and increased pressure in the skull. Symptoms can include headaches, vomiting, sleepiness, lack of energy, changes in vision, and sometimes causes issues with balance and coordination. Drake had surgery to remove the mass which was blocking his brain’s ventricles, and also required radiation and chemotherapy. Drake’s speech and walking were also affected, making it necessary for him to undergo therapy. Drake’s condition will be watched over the next five years to see if there’s any new growths.
Even after enduring so many challenges with his health, Drake keeps a positive outlook on life and looks forward to his future plans of working in aeronautics. He is kind, caring, and enjoys spending time with friends, watching football, woodworking and playing video games. Drake loves the thrills of gaming so much, that he dreams of having a PlayStation 4.
