Wish Kid Daveon’s condition has been challenging for him. He sometimes feels sad wondering why he’s having to deal with so much pain.
At birth, Wish Kid Daveon was diagnosed with sickle cell disease, a severe hereditary form of anemia in which a mutated form of hemoglobin distorts the red blood cells into a crescent shape at low oxygen levels. These irregularly shaped cells can get stuck in small blood vessels which can slow or block blood flow and oxygen to parts of the body. Wish Kid Daveon struggles with chronic pain and takes medication to help alleviate his discomfort, however it’s caused him to have a low blood platelet count. The medications and illness also make it difficult for him to focus and have good memory function.
It’s difficult being a child and not being able to be active like other kids. Wish Kid Daveon can’t do any physical activities due to the risk of bleeding or injuring his spleen. He previously had a surgery to have his gall bladder removed.
Sometimes the pain from Daveon’s condition is so debilitating, that he must use crutches to simply walk. When he walks long distances, it requires multiple breaks. Daveon’s illness has been challenging for him. He sometimes feels sad wondering why he’s having to deal with so much pain.
