When KoriRae was just an infant, her mom noticed that her daughter just didn’t seem to feel well. At first, the doctor thought KoriRae was anemic, but within 10 minutes of a blood test, the results showed much worse. KoriRae was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia, a cancer. At only eight months old, she began a two and a half year plan for chemotherapy. She also received a bone marrow transplant. Five years later, KoriRae began to not feel well again, and a spinal tap confirmed the leukemia had returned, this time in her central nervous system. Once again, her course of treatment was IV chemo and a daily medication.
KoriRae has been sick since she was six months old, but she still laughs, smiles, dances, and sings. She has never seen the ocean and would love to relax on the beach.
