“Carlos’ fun-filled day shopping with his family”
Doctors noted a heart murmur when Carlos was born, but he went on to lead a relatively healthy life until he was eight years old. Overnight, everything changed. Carlos was diagnosed with a right coronary artery anomaly (CAA), a congenital defect that can lead to sudden cardiac arrest.
Carlos is a curious, creative, and intelligent child with an interest in engineering. For fun, the 12-year-old takes things apart and puts them back together just to see how they work. He has mastered the art of solving the elusive Rubik’s cube in less than 60 seconds and is a video game champion. To cover up the scar from his heart surgery, Carlos likes to wear his Superman t-shirt.
To Kids Wish Network, Carlos is a superhero and one that deserved a fun day of shopping with his mom and brother. The Willowbrook Mall in Houston, TX, opened up their door to Carlos, offering his own special escort while he made his rounds with gift cards and cash gifts to spend. Additionally, some of the stores also had fun goodie bags waiting for Carlos. Two of Carlos’ favorite purchases were a pair of light-up sneakers and the set of Minions he made at Build-A-Bear.
Later that evening, Carlos and his family enjoyed dinner at the local Texas Roadhouse before they made their way for their complimentary stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites Conroe. On their way home the next day, Carlos and family were treated to lunch and to watch the movie Captain America: Civil War at the Star Cinema Grill.
Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following sponsors for helping make Carlos’ wish come true:
