Wish Kid Spencer shops like a gaming champion at Mall of America

As a toddler, Spencer was always thirsty, and could not quench his thirst. His mom was also alarmed over his increasingly gaunt appearance, and noticed that his chest appeared sunken in. A visit to the doctor revealed that Spencer had an autoimmune disease that caused him to be hospitalized numerous times. To keep his blood sugar levels stable, it’s necessary for him to take two types of insulin medications, and he must inject himself daily.

Spencer enjoys making others laugh and is very intelligent. He works hard at school and continually challenges himself to remain a straight A student. Spencer also loves helping others, and when he grows up, strives to be a doctor and work at a pediatric hospital. Some of his favorite activities are watching comedies, drawing and playing video games.

Kids Wish Network created a very special shopping experience wish for Spencer at Mall Of America in Minnesota that combined all of his favorite things.

Spencer was treated to VIP treatment from the very beginning of his wish. He and his family were whisked away in style by Mr. Nice Guy’s Limousine Service, letting the games begin on his personalized shopping adventure! Spencer’s first stop was checking in to the luxurious and ultra stylish Radisson Blu Mall of America for their overnight accommodations, conveniently located with direct access to all of the amazing shopping.

Spencer started his VIP spree, shopping for trendy clothes at Express. He felt like a celebrity when the store celebrated his arrival with a red carpet, balloons and assigned him his very own personal shopper. Microsoft was next on his list, where he was excited to up his gaming technologies. Then it was time for a rockin’ lunch at the Hard Rock Café. Spencer was now re-energized, and could take on the rest of the mall. He enjoyed unlimited video games at Smaaash Gaming, followed by a visit to Sea Life, where Spencer was able to go deep behind the scenes of the mall’s captivating aquarium of aquatic life. Then it was time for more shopping at Journeys, Barnes & Noble, Tervis, ME 3D, Bath and Body Works, Macy’s, and to top it off, sweet and delectable treats by Cupcake. After a full day of shopping and gaming, Kids Wish Network knew the family would be hankering for something hearty after all the day’s festivities, so they were all corralled to Cadillac Ranch for a fun and entertaining dining experience.

The following day, Spencer’s momentous adventure continued when he experienced the thrills and excitement of Nickelodeon Universe, the mall’s adrenaline pumping indoor theme park. When it was time to return home, Spencer and his family were once again transported in a beautiful limo by Mr. Nice’s Limousine Service. It was great having the extra room for all of Spencer’s shopping spree gifts!

“It was really special seeing people’s reactions when they saw Spencer. They viewed him as such an inspiration,” said his mom Julie. “It’s given him so much confidence. It put a light in his heart and uplifted his spirits.” Since having his wish come true, Spencer ‘s mom said he feels so good about himself, and now feels more engaged with others. “He previously liked being at home and playing video games with online friends, but he now enjoys actually being out with friends.”
