While growing up, Emma always seemed to be sick or getting sick. She was constantly battling dizzy spells, headaches, asthma, severe fatigue, and joint pain. It wasn’t until she was 14 years old that she was diagnosed with both Ehlers Danlos and Chiari Malformation. Both conditions affect Emma enough to where it is a struggle to leave her home. Emma had shunts placed in her brain in October of 2016 to try and help alleviate some of the severe pain she was experiencing on both her head and cervical spine.
Emma is now considered legally blind and has a service dog named Beans that allows her to be more independent and brings her a lot of happiness. Emma’s sister also has a friendly canine whose name is Frank. So there you have it! Two peas in a pod; Frank and Beans.
Emma is an outgoing and very sociable girl. Her mother says that Emma is spunky, but, unfortunately, rarely gets the chance to show this spunkiness. When she is able to gather her strength to leave the house, Emma loves going to concerts. Emma enjoys fashion and likes to go shopping for new clothes, but her all-time favorite thing to do is work with computers and all of the new technologies the world has to offer.
