“Lola smiled through the pain”
After suffering from a severe strep throat infection and digestive issues, 6-year-old Lola was admitted to Mercy Medical Center for further treatment. Doctors soon discovered she had salmonella in her system. Lola was in the hospital for 10 days, secluded in isolation because of her illness. She needed many blood draws and IV changes but remained cooperative throughout the pokes, something that can be difficult for a child of her age.
“Lola played all day and smiled through the pain,” writes her nominating nurse. “She was very motivated to get better and very careful to follow procedures.”
KWN is happy to recognize Lola for her bravery along with Mercy Medical Center. Congratulations on being a Hero of the Month, Lola!
