“Hannah’s most treasured memory was experiencing Disney”
It took nine years for doctors to officially diagnose Hannah with Cockayne syndrome, a rare neurodegenerative disorder characterized by growth failure, impaired development of the nervous system, abnormal sensitivity to sunlight, eye disorders and premature aging. There is no cure for this disease, and the prognosis is poor.
Despite her life-long illness, Hannah is an outgoing social butterfly with a love of Disney characters. Kids Wish Network granted her heart’s desire to meet the one and only Mickey Mouse by sending her on a dream getaway to Orlando. Magic Kingdom was everything that Hannah could have wished for and more. There, her most treasured memory was experiencing “It’s a small world,” a boat ride through a collection of over 300 brightly costumed dolls. At Islands of Adventure, the highlight of Hannah’s day was making her way through the dark corridors of Hogwarts™ School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and soaring above the castle grounds on the “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” ride. The “One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish” water attraction was also a hit with Hannah. One park over, Universal’s biggest thrill for Hannah was joining Gru, his daughters, and the mischievous army of Minions in their latest scheme on the “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” 3-D ride. Hannah also attended a spectacular performance by Blue Man Group in a celebration of art, technology, and music at Universal.
At the end of each long day of fun, Hannah got to relax and enjoy meals at Chili’s, Emeril’s and Big River Grille & Brewing Works. The Snow Queen and Princess even dropped in for a surprise visit at Chili’s in a magical meeting with Hannah. Big River Grille gifted Hannah with a Frozen Barbie doll and Emeril’s provided her with an array of delectable desserts to satisfy her sweet tooth.
To top it all off, Hannah also had tickets to Sea Life Aquarium and Madame Tussauds courtesy of Merlin’s Magic Wand. Getting to take pictures with Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana was a very special treat for Hannah. Overall, Hannah had a fabulous time exploring the sights in Orlando.
